This delightful children’s movie gets 3.5 Icees (out of 5). The reason it can’t get more is because of the first 30 minutes (more or less) of the movie. This movie starts out really slow. I understand a movie has to set things up, but it really seemed like the only thing it was trying to set up were songs.  Once Maui entered the picture, the movie got much better, and then rose up to the rating it received. So get through the beginning and you’ll be glad you did.

The cinematography was beautiful. They really did a great job! Some of the lines from the young actress playing Moana seemed a bit forced, but overall the acting was good.  The star of the movie in my humble opinion was the chicken.  Once you see the movie, you’ll know what I mean.

This movie will do really well with young girls as it is beautiful and has a strong young female character.  I think that is a great thing. The Rock (Dwayne Johnson) did well as Maui, but to me sometimes the voice just didn’t quite fit with the animated character’s expression.  It was barely noticeable, but I did see that once or twice.  If you are looking for a good kids’ movie, this is one to see!  It’s not The Little Mermaid or anything, but it does well.

There is a scene after the credits, but it is short and you’re not really missing much if you decide to skip it.

Moana Trailer #3

This movie, which comes out on November 23rd, looks pretty fun and that’s what a kid’s movie is supposed to be, right?  The first 2 trailers for this were ok, but this one for some reason really makes me want to see the movie. The release date is perfect because it is after Fantastic Beasts and before Sing. Hopefully parents will take their kids to this one!  It hasn’t gotten nearly as much hype as Sing but I think it may actually be better. Time will tell.  Until then all we have are trailers… so enjoy.

Moana Trailer #2

The newest trailer for Moana (releasing Nov 23rd) stars veteran Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and newbie Auli’i Cravalho (and no, I don’t know how to pronounce that… yet), and the tattoos on the Rock’s character’s back.  Check out this trailer and you’ll see what I mean.  This movie appears to be a lock for the Thanksgiving kids movie of the year. Check it out and let me know what you think in the comments section.

Moana Trailer

This animated Disney movie has a couple so stars that could help this movie be another Disney hit. Will Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Nicole Scherzinger get it done? Time will tell. As in Nov 23rd, when it releases.
