This movie earns a 3.5 Icee (out of 5) rating. However, having said that, you should know that the trailers are very misleading. The peril is pretty much in the background until near the end of the movie, letting you know it is there but not really the forefront of the story. What is the forefront you may ask? Well, to tell you that would be a spoiler, and I don’t do that. Let’s just say it is about a decision that is made and the ongoing repercussions of that decision. Or perhaps to say it is an interesting human/love story. You be the judge. It was good, but didn’t blow me away.
The story is a good one, sometimes a bit slow, but also sometimes very intense. I think that JLaw does an exceptional job of displaying a range of emotions, and Chris Pratt does a pretty good job as well, although he is primarily at his best when his boyish charm is on display. You will notice in the PG-13 rating that it states “nudity”. This nudity is primarily the butt of Chris Pratt (or a body double). There is a sex scene where you get suggestive nudity (that’s what I call it when they are nude but you really don’t see the parts that would get them an R rating).
Don’t go into this movie thinking it is all about peril and action, because it isn’t. It’s a good movie when you look at it from an emotional standpoint, with some peril thrown in for good measure.
No scene after the credits.
